AZTEC FALLS/DEEP CREEK 9 6 09
Awesome day trip to Aztec falls. We hiked in to Aztec via Splinters Cabin. Afterward we hiked 25 min downstream to another swim spot. Fun time, big posse on this one. Hope The Pump is killin it in NH.
Directions: 210 east to 18 north and then east for 18 miles to Crest Park. Drive 3.1 miles north on State Road 173 through Lake Arrowhead to Hook Creek Road. Travel 3 miles east on Hook Creek, then bear left a short distance on Squint Ranch Road to a right-hand descent that leads .45 miles to Splinter’s Cabin and access to the Pacific Crest Trail. Hike .4 miles north (downstream) on the PCT to some spraypainted trees on the right. This is the trailspur that leads to the swimmin spot. Have fun and clean up your mess!
is this a safe spot to jump at the end of summer right now? and is it pretty deep?
Right now a lot of places are silted in from last winters rains. I haven’t been out to Aztec this year but I heard that it is deep enough.
Hi I was wondering if it ever gets super crowded? we are going up for labor day weekend!!!
it gets crowded but there is alot of space to party. be careful though this place has gotten pretty shallow after the rains. i heard that its only 6 feet deep under the falls, please check depth and be safe.
Hi Los Angeles Swimming – do you know if anyone has been here recently? Is it still deep enough for cliff jumping?
How is the hike? Is it ok for people who are not experienced hikers?
Thank you for any info you can provide.
It’s a very simple hike, pretty straightforward. It’s deep enough to jump just be careful and check depth first.
Is the water deep enough to dive over the next few weeks?
yes
Can you camp there? Do people usually camp there?
It is illegal to camp there but it doesn’t stop some people.
Do you think that this upcoming Sunday will be crowded with people?
yes
What day and what time do you think would be the best to go to Aztec falls if you’re hoping to avoid jumping with a huge crowd?
mid week in the morning
