the hike down takes about 30 minutes from the side of the road. problem is getting a parking spot where you wont get ticketed.

yeah it sux that ppl trash the place. i love to drink and paint and litter, just not in nature. do it in the city which is just an accumulation of man made trash.

Just went there yesterday!!! I’ve been hiking on both sides of the dam for years now, only making it to the dam once, comin up from nearly the beach and getting there at night— Sketchy. Anyways, had a blast down there yesterday!!! I suggest rafts or inflatables to help conserve energy because it does take a bit of strength/endurance to get out, but not too bad. It was kind of a bummer to see all the trash (beer cans and bottles) just sitting around, and the graffiti on the rocks. I drink and paint myself, (often simultaneously) but I pick up my trash, and keep the painting to the city. No need to fuck up something for the rest of us, and end up having that place regulated or some shit. As far as trash goes, all it takes is bringin down a empty trash bag, fill it with your trash, knot up the bag and leave it somewhere safe and out of the way. Looks a lot better than trash all over the place and I’ll even haul it out when i go back. Other than that, have a blast down there. It truly is like a small paradise! BTW.. don’t tell too many people. Lets keep this place alive and unregulated for as long as possible.

sux you couldnt find it. locals are known to run out of towners astray. we are headed out to a spot right downstream from aztec on sunday. add us on fb and keep posted on our trips.

Hey!

Some friends & I went to Aztec, except we got steered the wrong way & just settled on deep creek.
It was good, just lounged & made friends.
We were going the right way, then some old dirt bike kook told us to turn around because it was the opposite direction. Found out later from some local natives we were going the right way from the start.
